{"id":3628,"date":"2020-02-13T13:14:27","date_gmt":"2020-02-13T13:14:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dreamsconsult.com\/?p=3628"},"modified":"2020-02-13T13:14:27","modified_gmt":"2020-02-13T13:14:27","slug":"uk-nmc-reviews-tests-of-competency","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dreamsbridge.com.gh\/news\/uk-nmc-reviews-tests-of-competency\/","title":{"rendered":"UK NMC Reviews Tests of Competency"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color has-normal-font-size\">To reflect contemporary\nsocieties\u2019 expectations of health professionals, the UK Nursing and Midwifery\nCouncil has reviewed the standards of the tests of competency, the\ncomputer-based test (CBT) and the\nobjective structured clinical\nexamination (OSCE), to constitute\nthe skills, knowledge and attributes they must exhibit. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\"><strong>CBT<\/strong><br>The test, taken in Accra, Ghana at Total House, is now divided into two parts, parts A and B. While Part A assesses numeracy (ability to reason and apply simple numerical concepts), Part B is theory-based, testing the knowledge of candidates on the principles of their practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\"><strong>OSCE<\/strong><br>Furthermore, the objective structured clinical examination (OSCE), which is taken in the UK usually during the third month of arrival, will now have 10 stations, instead of 8:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\">Linked\ntogether around a scenario, four stations &#8211; the APIE (one station for\nassessment, planning, implementation and evaluation) &#8211; remain unchanged.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\">The\nskills-testing four stations are also unaffected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\">To\nhighlight the need to assess values and behaviours as well as evidence-based\npractice, two new stations will be introduced to ensure that employees meet the\nhighest ethical and professional standards. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\"><strong>OSCE Marking Criteria&nbsp;<\/strong><br>Each station will be assessed against specific criteria and with a holistic judgement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-very-dark-gray-color has-text-color\"><strong>Test Content&nbsp;<\/strong><br>After a comprehensive evaluation, the content of the test has been updated.
